individual therapy
in los gatos, ca

The therapeutic relationship is unlike any other relationship you'll have in your life.

Choosing private practice therapy allows you to bypass many of the limitations and privacy concerns that can come with working with insurance companies, that are often tied to employment. For most people, this means they might censor or tailor conversations away from topics that might seem unsavory or too personal.

With me, your right to privacy is absolute. You have the right to live your life as you choose. Confidentiality is a subset of this overarching privacy principle. Confidentiality guarantees that you are free to decide for yourself what and with whom you share what is most personal to you. And I act as an agent to protect that right.

My job is to provide enough emotional safety for you to explore thoughts, feelings, frustrations, and fears so that you don't have to hold onto them alone anymore. And more than likely, this difficult content holds the key to living with less stress and more ease.

It is crucial for you to know and trust that everything you say to me is kept private; your feeling that our discussions are kept safely contained is key for effective psychotherapy.

Of course there are some legal exceptions to confidentiality when I have a duty to disclose certain information to keep you or others safe. If, in the course of our work, this arises, I will be up front and honest about it, discussing with you in advance.

change that lasts

Most therapies in some form or another, foster increased awareness or insight of the hidden and not so hidden parts of ourselves. This includes symptoms (ex. panic attacks) and defenses (ex. over-working).

As we become more aware of our thoughts, feelings, reactions, and  perceptions, we tend to have greater acceptance, choice, and freedom in life – all of which contribute to a potent sense of well-being.

Lasting change, therefore, comes from a deep understanding of what experiences have shaped you, why certain things persist in your life, and how you influence those around you.

Individual therapy is an effective way to gain the meaning, connection and growth you seek.

Did you know there was a landmark study that predicted the most important factor contributing to lasting change & success in therapy? Surprise, it wasn't the specific modality or specialized training of the clinician! It was the quality of relationship built between the therapist and the client.

So find a therapist that you trust. That you can speak plainly to. That seems to genuinely care about you and the concerns you bring into the room. And for you, I might just be that person.  Contact me below to set up a chat and we'll find out.

ultimate privacy and discretion

Our work together will reflect on what you need at that moment. Some sessions will be about attaining insight about your concerns, life, or relationships. Other sessions will be about deep listening and mindful presence. Some may be about problem-solving or finding new perspectives. In any case, the sessions focus on you and what would be most beneficial to reach your goals.

We can address a wide array of concerns, which most likely are acting in concert together in ways that are causing much of your difficulties. We can work on:

  • managing anxiety, including panic attacks

  • loneliness

  • low self esteem or confidence

  • stress & burnout

  • irrational fears

  • relationship issues

  • life's big transitions

  • avoidance of feelings

  • struggles with sleep

  • bereavement and trauma

  • feeling empty or hopeless

  • self-understanding, purpose and existential questions

tailored therapy sessions

I provide individual therapy for adults with a wide variety of concerns, particularly specializing in grief, depression, anxiety, existential concerns, and relationship issues, among others.

My therapy style is strengths-based, collaborative, and flexible, integrating multiple approaches to therapy (including mindfulness, analytic, humanistic, and relational therapies). Additionally, I bring a somatic focus to the work that I do, which means I pay attention to how the body is speaking your troubles and what it has to say about your healing. I am excited to get to know you as an individual and figure out what approach to therapy will best fit your unique needs.
